Ride Planet Earth Beijing – 28 Nov 2010
----------------------------------------------------
Ride Planet Earth Summary:
The Ride Planet Earth campaign uses bicycle and sustainable travel eventsand adventures to promote action against human-induced Climate
Change. The campaign, established in August 2008, is made up of both longdistance sustainable travel adventures, people exploring the
globe on bicycles, rowing, on foot, and an annual world-wide event,a celebration of sustainable travel and transport that takes place
simultaneously at locations across the planet.
These events and adventures demonstrate that ordinary people havethe capacity and willingness to take on climate change, by making simple
choices, like riding a bicycle to work instead of driving a car. You canfind out how to participate in the campaign by visiting
www.rideplanetearth.org.

Ride Planet Earth 2010 Beijing
Cyclists in Beijing join world-wide effort to take on Climate Change
Through a series of events and adventures cyclists across the world areshowing that ordinary people can take on Climate Change
On 27th and 28th November 2010 the second annual Ride Planet Earth eventwill be held across the planet. It is a celebration of cycling
and sustainable travel, demonstrating that ordinary people havethe capacity and willingness to take on climate change. The event is part
of the Ride Planet Earth campaign, established in 2008, aiming to increasethe popularity of sustainable transport while pressuring big
business and government to take action to stop human-inducedClimate Change.
The first Ride Planet Earth international event took place last December, coinciding with the COP15 UN Climate Change Summit in
Copenhagen. The event included 50 separate events worldwide where messageswere collected before being presented at the UN Summit.
In 2010 a growing number of sustainable adventurers have been joining theRide Planet Earth campaign, cycling, rowing and walking their way
across all corners of the planet. The founder of the campaign, 29 year oldAustralian Kim Nguyen, says, “Their actions can inspire others by
demonstrating some of the simple steps anyone can take to reducetheir impact on the planet. If these adventurers can cycle from Brisbaneto
Copenhagen, New York to Cancun, Beijing to Bali, then most people can ridetheir bike from home to work.”
Jeff Katrencik joined Ride Planet Earth last year, organising climate-cycling events in New York at the time of the UNSummit. This
year he is going a lot further, cycling from New York City to the COP16 UNSummit, held in Cancun Mexico. Jeff, like many of the
adventurers in the campaign, is not only promoting action, butalso researching Climate Change impacts and solutions as he travels.
“Traveling 7000 kilometres by bike will give me the opportunity to visitplaces most people never do,” he says, “I'll be seeing
first-hand many of the impacts of Climate Change on North America, and hopefully discovering some of the simple solutions to this problem
that people can apply elsewhere.”
Mr Nguyen states, “This campaign started from scratch but justkeeps growing. We had several thousand people participate last year andthis
year it looks like even more. We hope the campaign shows that not only isClimate Change already having an impact on people all over the
planet but we are all capable of doing something about it.”
To find out more about the campaign, including the Sustainable Adventurescurrently taking place and how to participate in the
International Event on 27th and 28th November, please visit www.rideplanetearth.org. 环行奥运村,这条线路不错,我骑过.可惜那天有事去不了.神支一下. 不错。参加一个。 我没功夫参加,但是非常敬佩这样的人。 活动介绍请注意
